Icelandic cod liver oil supports the normal functioning of the cardiovascular and immune systems, as well as cognitive function. The health effect is due to the high amount of Omega-3 fatty acids - 2160 mg EPA and DHA per daily dose of 10 ml, which are beneficial for the development of the brain and central nervous system. The oil is extracted from fresh cod liver, and is also rich in vitamins A (retinyl palmitate), D (cholecalciferol) and E (d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate). Vitamins A and D are necessary to ensure normal growth of teeth and bones, as well as for good vision. All elements of cod liver oil are very important, as they participate in the construction of cells and in the process of their regeneration. The oil is essential for physical and mental health and helps prevent diseases associated with the destruction of tissues and joints. The product has a pleasant lemon flavor, without a fishy aftertaste.
What makes cod liver oil effective?
The main component of the oil is Omega-3, the deficiency of which can cause nervous disorders, cardiovascular diseases and other health problems. Omega-3 is a group of polyunsaturated fatty acids. There are 11 of them in total, but two of them - eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are most important for human health. EPA and DHA are embedded in the lipid layer of the cell membrane and affect its elasticity, permeability, viscosity, strength of connection with enzymes and receptors, which, like antennas, receive signals from the outside. Without EPA and DHA, not a single cell will be able to communicate normally with the body and therefore will not know what and when to do.
Together with vitamins A, E and D, Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids help to:
- achieving lower cholesterol levels;
- normalizing the level of triglycerides – fats that are considered the main source of energy for the body's cells, but increasing their levels increases the risk of cardiovascular disease;
