Anacyclus pyrethrum or Spanish Chamomile , sometimes known as "Acarcara", is a plant that is known for its numerous medicinal properties. One of its main actions is to influence cognitive functions.
Pyrethrum, which has the botanical name Anacyclus pyrethrum, is a small perennial plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. The plant is primarily native to Arabia and is widely distributed in North Africa, the Mediterranean region, Spain, and India.
In the Indian subcontinent, it is found in the Himalayas, Jammu and Kashmir, Bengal and other northern regions. This herbaceous perennial closely resembles the chamomile species in habitat and appearance. It grows well in alpine areas and rocky gardens.

Phytochemical composition
The root of akarkara contains the alkaloid pellitorine (pyrethrin) and alkylamides. The alkylamide in the roots of akarkara consists mainly of tyramine amides and isobutyl amides. The alkylamides have libido-stimulating and neuroprotective properties.
