The origin of this honey is strictly controlled. The apiaries are located in ecologically clean areas in New Zealand, where the Manuka plant blooms only for a short period of the year. This is what makes Manuka honey so valuable and sought after. ApiHealth uses modern technologies and traditional storage methods that preserve the maximum active substances in the raw product.
MGO is the main component that makes manuka honey work. It is not added artificially, but is formed in the honey itself from the ingredient dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is naturally present in manuka nectar. When bees process nectar into honey, DHA remains in the product and over time is converted to MGO. The process is completely natural and continues even after the honey is harvested and bottled. This is why manufacturers wait a while before testing and labeling the final MGO content.
The more DHA the nectar contains, the higher the MGO value after the honey has matured. The UMF™ system takes this activity into account, with a value of 10+ being proven effective for everyday use. UMF™ – Unique Manuka Factor – not only measures MGO, but also includes additional markers such as leptosperin content and the presence of DHA, providing a comprehensive assessment of quality.
Manuka honey is the only honey in the world that naturally contains high levels of methylglyoxal, and its activity remains stable even at high temperatures or when exposed to enzymes in saliva and the digestive system. This distinguishes it from regular honey, whose antimicrobial power depends mainly on hydrogen peroxide and decreases rapidly after ingestion or heating. It is this stability of action that is the reason why manuka honey is used not only as a food, but also as an active ingredient in medicinal products.
Today, a number of scientific studies confirm the effectiveness of UMF™ 10+ Manuka Honey against various pathogenic bacteria, including Helicobacter pylori, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes . These bacteria can cause digestive, respiratory and skin problems. Honey works by creating a protective layer on mucous membranes and skin, which prevents the entry and development of harmful microorganisms. In addition, it supports the recovery processes and reduces irritation.
The honey has a rich golden-brown color, a creamy texture and a characteristic taste with light herbal and woody notes. It is suitable for daily use, especially during the cold seasons, with an active lifestyle or in periods of increased stress.
The 250g package is sufficient for about 4 weeks of regular use when taking 1 teaspoon daily.
