The dietary supplement from the German company Barbel Drexel is a natural plant source of omega-3 fatty acids from perilla seeds.
Perilla is a herbaceous perennial plant that belongs to the Lilac family. It originates from Southeast Asia and India, and its use in China is for medicinal purposes and dates back thousands of years.
In Bulgaria, the herb is known as Chinese basil.
Omega-3 Perilla oil supports the health and functions of the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems, has an effect on the regeneration and detoxification of the liver.
The supplement is high in polyunsaturated fatty acids (mainly alpha-linolenic acid). They are of plant origin and are extracted from perilla seeds.
Compared to other vegetable oils, perilla seed oil has an exceptionally high concentration of beneficial omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Alpha-linolenic acid makes up about 60% of perilla seed oil, making it one of the richest sources of omega-3s.
