Bile Acid Factors® is a blend of highly concentrated bile acids (also called bile salts), mostly in conjugated form. The bile salts are obtained from cattle or sheep from the USA and/or New Zealand. These sources are strictly controlled for safety and purity. Processing is carried out in a licensed pharmaceutical facility.
Bile acids are produced in the liver and then stored and concentrated in the gallbladder, from where they enter the small intestine through the bile duct.
The main components of this dietary supplement are taurocholate and glycocholate, which are crucial for fat absorption.
In the small intestine, bile acid emulsifies fats, which aids in their absorption. Bile acid deficiency causes fat malabsorption and leads to steatorrhea (excess fat in the stool). In addition, bile acid deficiency reduces the absorption of fats and fat-soluble nutrients.
