Nature's Way Chromium Picolinate is an essential part of the glucose tolerance factor molecule. This factor is related to the functioning of the endocrine system. Glucose tolerance factor is a cofactor of insulin, and maintaining normal insulin levels is very important for adequate blood sugar levels. Glucose tolerance factor requires chromium as a central atom. Chromium is important for the synthesis of fatty acids, lecithin, cholesterol and lipoproteins for the liver. If a person does not take chromium in food, increased levels of fats in the blood may be observed, since the liver is unable to filter them on its own.
