Mattisson Fermented Coconut Vinegar is pure and unfiltered, with the mother (vinegar mushroom) preserved. The mother of vinegar is a ferment and can form threads or sediment that give the liquid a slightly cloudy appearance. Coconut vinegar does not actually taste like coconut and is odorless. It can be used in the same way as regular vinegar and can be mixed with a drink. It should not be drunk directly: in large doses, the medicinal liquid irritates the throat, mucous membranes and damages tooth enamel.
It is best used in sauces and marinades and as a salad dressing.
What is coconut vinegar?
Coconut vinegar is a natural substance obtained from fermented coconut juice by oxidizing ethanol to acetic acid. Coconut vinegar does not come from tropical fruits with white flesh, but from coconut blossoms that have already undergone an aging process. The natural fermentation of the juice preserves many of the enzymes and nutrients. Contains all 9 essential amino acids that are part of every living cell in the body. It is a source of vitamins B and C, probiotics and prebiotics. It is rich in minerals such as phosphorus, iron, potassium, sulphur, boron, zinc, copper and manganese. It has an almost neutral pH.
