Nature's Way Pomegranate Extract is standardized to 40% ellagic acid from a pure whole fruit source to increase its antioxidant properties. Pomegranate has been used for centuries in different parts of the world. The stem and root bark contain several alkaloids including isopelletierine, which is active against tapeworms. Pomegranate contains tannins and therefore an extract of the bark, leaves, unripe fruit or rind of the fruit is used in diarrhoea, dysentery and haemorrhages. The dried, pulverized flower buds are used for bronchitis. In Mexico, a decoction of pomegranate blossoms is used as a gargle to relieve sore throats.
