Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant of the methylxanthine class. It is used as a cognitive enhancer, increases vigilance and attention. It works by blocking the binding of adenosine to the A1 adenosine receptor, which enhances the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
We take it through drinks that contain caffeine, which is extracted by steeping the plant in water, a process called infusion.
