The Vitabay ® food supplement contains high-quality sage extract, in combination with the essential oils α-thujone, camphor and cineole for maximum effect of the natural substances contained in Salvia officinalis.
Origin and properties:
Homeland of The plant Salvia officinalis is native to the Middle East and the Mediterranean region, but today it is distributed throughout the world. It is a perennial shrub. In folk medicine, it is used to treat a wide range of diseases. In recent years, this plant has been the subject of intensive research for its traditional use and for the discovery of new biological effects. Currently, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antimutagenic, hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic actions are known.

The wide range of compounds found in sage include alkaloids, carbohydrates, fatty acids, saponins, phenolic compounds, vitamins A and C, zinc, copper, magnesium. In the essential oil from the ground parts of the sage, 120 components are isolated, among them camphor, cineole, thujone.

Traditionally, sage tea is used to treat digestive disorders, circulatory problems, bronchitis. The antiseptic properties are due to the contained camphor, cineol, thujone, which have been proven to counteract most isolated bacteria, including Escherichia coli.
