Bitterzout - Epsom salt
Epsom salt
What is Epsom Salt?
Epsom salt is not salt in the popular sense of the term. It is a mineral composed of magnesium, sulfur, water and oxygen. With its small crystals, it looks like table salt. Although this element is found in many mineral waters, it gets its name (Epsom salt) in honor of the English source of Epsom mineral water, from whose water more than three centuries ago the first English salt was obtained. This happens after evaporation of the mineral water to white crystals with a bitter taste and laxative effect. Epsom salt is odorless and has a skin-neutral pH. Thanks to its unique composition, Epsom salt has long gained popularity as a natural remedy for many diseases and an indispensable substance for maintaining health, youth and beauty. The combination of sulfur and magnesium acts antibacterially, cleans, rejuvenates, softens dry and rough skin, protects hair from breakage, frees the body from toxins and has a calming effect on the nervous system. Epsom salt baths saturate the body with magnesium and sulfur ions.
The product is used in cosmetic procedures for the skin, hair and nails.
