Terminalia arjuna, more commonly known as arjuna, belongs to the Combretaceae family. The arjuna tree is about 18-24 meters tall and grows along rivers, streams and dry water bodies in the Indo-Sub-Himalayan regions. The outer surface of its bark is smooth, and the inner one has longitudinal furrows and a pink color. In April and May, the bark separates itself from the trunk of the tree.
