Florassist® Immune & Nasal Defense contains two probiotic strains EpiCor® of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Lactobacillus acidophilus providing 100 billion active probiotics.
EpiCor® is a complete nutritional yeast fermentate /Saccharomyces cerevisiae/ - better known as baker's yeast. Discovered by chance, EpiCor® has already undergone numerous clinical trials. In addition to boosting immunity, interestingly, EpiCor® also helps the immune system with respect to dust, pollen and pet dander.
In a study, participants took 500 mg of EpiCor® daily or a placebo for five weeks. Those on the placebo experienced all the symptoms of people with dust and pollen allergies, while those taking EpiCor® experienced no discomfort.
Lactobacillus rhamnosus CRL1505 is a special probiotic strain isolated from goat milk. Discovered in northwestern Argentina, L. rhamnosus CRL1505 helps promote a healthy immune response - so much so that it is currently taken by over 300,000 preschoolers each year.
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of hundreds of preschoolers found that participants who took L. rhamnosus 5 days a week for 6 months had almost 50% fewer reported cases of immune decline than those who took a placebo. The same study found that the group taking L. rhamnosus also had 47% higher levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA), which supports a healthy immune response.
