Description
The green-lipped mussel (lat. Perna canaliculus ) is a bivalve mollusc belonging to the Mytilidae family. On their outside, the shells are decorated in greenish shades. They are wedge-shaped and can reach up to 20 cm in length.
Green clams inhabit the waters off the coast of New Zealand. They are considered to be the most ecologically clean and safe for consumption seafood.
Composition and useful properties
The green-lipped mussel contains in its composition:
- omega-3 fatty acids - are useful for bones, joints, skin, cardiovascular system, stimulate brain function;
- glucosamine – with an important role in building cartilage tissue;
