Mattisson's Peptan® Type 1 Marine Collagen Blend is based on collagen extracted from the skin of wild-caught or open-water fish. Marine collagen (also called fish collagen) is chemically closest to collagen in the human body and is much better absorbed than collagen derived from other animals. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. It is found in the skin, joints, bones, muscles and cartilage. It is rich in proteins that contribute to the maintenance of healthy bones and the growth of muscle mass. Collagen is a complete source of protein, containing 18 amino acids (building blocks of proteins). The concentration of amino acids in collagen is different compared to other protein products. Peptan® is a global brand of collagen peptides. With its hydrolyzed form, Peptan® guarantees high purity and bioavailability. The proportion of proline in Peptan® collagen is more than 2 times higher and the proportion of glycine is 5 to 10 times higher than in other protein powders such as whey protein.
