Mattisson's AlkaBalance Acid-Base Bath Salt consists of Himalayan salt, minerals and semi-precious stone powder: lazuli, chalcedony, carnelian, lapis, rhodochrosite, garnet and citrine. Taking a bath with Himalayan salt removes all toxins from the body, improves blood flow, strengthens muscles and nervous tissue and reduces inflammatory processes. The distinctive pink color of salt crystals is due to the increased content of iron compounds with oxygen (iron oxide) in it. The deposits of pink salt were formed during the prehistoric Jurassic period. In ancient times, salt mined in Pakistan, near the Himalayan mountains, was widely used for long-term preservation of fish and meat products, and also as a currency.
